How well is your website performing?

If you don’t measure how your website performs you will not know what to improve on.

Here at Masterpiece we constantly check our web statistics and modify / adjust various items on or website. Some of these include changing key phrases within content, headings and title tags.

With a google analytics package you will be able to track: unique visitors, page views, time on site, viewer locations, browsers used, screen resolutions and much more. All of this information is key to finding out what is working and what isn’t. If you have an online shop you can also see at which point your users drop out of a purchase. This can be incredibly useful in diagnosing usability issues.

What analytics package should I use?

Which package you choose will depend on how much traffic your website receives. We recommend the following:

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free service from Google. All you need is a Google account which is easy to setup. You will have a gmail or googlemail email address which will enable you to login to a varity of Google services.

Open Tracker

Open Tracker is a paid service which is calculated on the amount of traffic your website receives. For an average business site (not a online shop) you shoud expect to pay around £85 per year.

Webtrends

Webtrends is a more top end analytics solution. This is more expensive than Open Tracker but for a good reason. You can track the exact paths of your visitors through your site using different meta tags. This is great for an e-commerce website.
